Hot Dome satisfies Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) Regulation #393.79 which requires all trucks and truck tractors to be electronically equipped with a device that prevents or removes obstructions from the exterior of the windshield. Qualifying obstructions described in the code include ice, snow and frost.

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Hot Dome.

What does the Hot Dome do?
The metal on the blade assembly is what gets cold in winter conditions and causes freezing rain and snow to build up on the blade assembly. By covering the blade assembly, the Hot Dome eliminates that buildup and keeps your windshield cleaner giving you better visibility. The Hot Dome also helps to keep the rubber blade warm and prevents it from getting cold and brittle and losing good contact with the glass.

Does this replace my existing wiper blade?
No. Usually there is no need to replace your blades. The Hot Dome fits over most existing wiper blades.

Does it fit over my straight blade?
Yes. The package includes four (4) screws that secure the Hot Dome to your straight blades.

Does it fit over my bow (flex) blade?
Yes and no. If your bow blade has very little curvature to the bow, the Hot Dome should fit fine. If your blade has an exaggerated bow with a high curve, you won't have good coverage on the ends of your blade. We also have an adapter kit available to change your bow blade to a straight blade.

What's included in the package?
Each package contains one Hot Dome (the Hot Dome does not come in pairs), four straight blade attachment screws, four plastic zip ties (two for attachment to a bow blade and two for attachment of the cord to the windshield wiper armature), and an installation instruction sheet.

How hot does the Hot Dome get?
The Hot Dome has been engineered to compensate for low winter temperatures and windy driving conditions in order to maintain more than adequate heat to melt any ice or snow and keep it from accumulating on the Hot Dome and blade assembly.

Will the heat from the Hot Dome damage the rubber blade?
No. Actually it will give the rubber longer life.

Where does the Hot Dome get its power?
The Hot Dome comes with an 8' cord with a cigarette lighter plug. We also have a hardware kit available if you want to permanently install your Hot Dome.

Is there a warranty?
Yes. The Hot Dome has a full one-year limited warranty.
